Rifa, Arif dan David memulai percakapan bahasa inggris di Bandara saat mereka akan berangkat berlibur ke Bali. Mereka sudah membiasakan menggunakan bahasa inggris dalam komunikasi dan berharap ketika sampai di Bali mereka sudah lancar bicara bahasa inggris khususnya ketika komunikasi dengan para turis atau bule yang pastinya banyak sekali ada di Bali.

Di sela-sela percakapan bahasa inggris di bandara, ada kejadian lucu yaitu Arif tampak sangat gugup ketika pesawat akan segera berangkat. Ternyata Arif baru pertama kali naik pesawat. Tetapi teman-teman Arif langsung menghiburnya dengan mengajak membayangkan tempat-tempat wisata indah yang akan mereka temui nantinya jika sudah tiba di Bali sehingga Arif menjadi lupa akan gugupnya.

Rifa      : Hey, Guys! I’m sorry for making you wait so long

Arif      : There you are. why did you take so long to get here, Rifa?

Rifa      : Sigh… It’s all because of the traffic jam, you know that it’s Jakarta, right?

David   : Alright, Guys. I think we should go to the check-in desk to process our flight.

Rifa      : Okay, we can’t be late any minute.

[At check-in desk]

David   : Good morning.

Agent   : Good morning. Where are you going today?

David   : It’s Bali.

Agent : Well, may I have your ticket please?

David   : Here you are.

Agent   : Is it only the three of you to the flight?

David   : Yes, it’s just us.

Agent   : Would you like smoking or non-smoking?

David   : That’ll be non-smoking

Agent   : Do you have luggage with you?

David   : Yes, we have three suitcases and two duffel bags.

Agent   :  Okay, here are your boarding passes. Your flight will leave from gate 5A and the boarding time begins at 08.30 and your seats will be in 18A, 18B, and 18C. Thank you, and enjoy your flight with us.

David   : Very well, thank you.

Rifa      : What time is the flight, David?

David   : Our flight will leave at 09.45 and we can start to enter the plane at 08.30.
Arif      :  Okay, let’s have sometime in the lounge first before the take-off.

Rifa      : Good idea! I’m kind of hungry.

David   : Me too, let’s go.

[At the lounge]

Rifa      : Whoa, finally I’m full. I skipped my breakfast before leaving my house.

David   : Huh? Why are you so quiet, Arif? We’re going to have fun, right?

Arif      : Um… it’s nothing, David. I’m just a little bit nervous. I haven’t travelled by plane since 6 years ago.

Rifa      : [laughing] It’s okay, Arif. Don’t say that you are scared of flight?

Arif      : No! I’m not scared of traveling by plane. It has just been so long since my last flight.

David   : [laughing] It’s going to be okay, Arif. I think we would have the same feeling if we were you.

Rifa      : Just think about the exciting days we’ll spend together in Bali.

Arif      : [laughing] Okay, Rifa. Your words really bring me to joy.

David   : Guys, are you all done? I think it’s 20 minutes remaining before our flight, let’s get going.

Rifa      : Oh yeah, okay let’s go.

Arif : Alright! Bali here we come!

Take so long: lama sekali, menghabiskan waktu lama sekali Check-in desk: tempat di bandara untuk memproses penerbangan

Luggage           : barang-barang bawaan

Flight                : penerbangan pesawat

Suitcase            : kopor/koper

Duffel bag         : tas jinjing

Boarding pass   : kartu tanda naik pesawat

Boarding time   : waktu untuk penumpang naik ke pesawat

Lounge : ruang bersantai di tempat umum

Take-off           : keberangkatan (pesawat)

Full                   : kenyang

Quiet                : tenang, diam

Nervous           : gugup, gelisah, resah

Scared of         : takut

Exciting            : menyenangkan

Bring me to joy : membuat saya gembira

20 minutes remaining     : tinggal 20 menit lagi

Get going          : bergegas pergi
